AUDITION PROCEDURES - READ CAREFULLY
- AUDITIONS ARE WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 16th, 3PM-4PM @ THE MUSIC ROOM
- Students MUST dismiss from school as normal and parents need to bring them back for their audition during the 3pm-4pm window time frame.
- Auditions will consist of PERFORMING A POEM TO MEMORIZE & ACT (attached). DO NOT just read the poem. Students are expected to provide their own ACTING interpretations to the poem.
- Parents wait in the cafeteria while the students wait in line at the Music Room to audition. First come, first serve…each audition will be approximately 3 minutes or less if the student is prepared.
- Once a student is finished with their audition, the student will rejoin their parent(s) in the cafeteria to go home.
- First rehearsal date will be shared with the students that are accepted into the PAW Drama Club.
- Audition results will be provided within a week's time from the audition date.
- NOTE: If accepted students are late from being picked up from rehearsals, they may be sent to the afterschool program (KidZone) which may result in paying a fee for their attendance in that program, even if a student's attendance at KidZone is only for a short period of time.
Choose one of the following poems to audition with:
FOR SALE
One sister for sale!
One sister for sale!
One crying and spying young sister for sale!
I’m really not kidding.
So who’ll start the bidding?
Do I hear a dollar?
A nickel?
A penny?
Oh, come on, isn’t there, isn’t there, isn’t there any
One kid who will buy this old sister for sale,
This crying and spying young sister for sale?
Do I hear anything?
Okay.
I’ll keep her till next Wednesday.
RAIN
I opened my eyes
and looked up at the rain,
and it dripped in my head
and poured into my brain
so pardon the wild crazy thing I just said
I just ain’t the same
since there’s rain in my head.
I walk kinda careful
I turn around slow,
I can’t run or jump
‘cause I might overflow,
and all that I hear as I lie in my bed
is the slishity-shlosh of the rain in my head.
