SC Elementary Honor Choir

              SCEHC stands for South Carolina Elementary Honor Choir and it is an opportunity for your child to experience the Fine Arts in a wonderfully crafted and organized fashion. It is for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders across all elementary schools in the state of South Carolina. Only up to 6 students from each elementary school in Horry County can be accepted into SCEHC. SCEHC is where the best of the best come together for 2 days to rehearse in Columbia, SC to perform a memorable performance that represents South Carolina’s best students from the elementary level. Not only will they be working with a professional clinician but they will also experience professionalism at a higher level that provides them recognition and authentication for being one of the best elementary student singers in our sunny state of SC.
 

• Before any student is accepted into SCEHC, they must participate in an audition provided by the SCEHC. 

• DO NOT audition if you do not plan on going to Columbia if student passes the audition. The Columbia, SC practice and performance is NOT a field trip with the school or the music teacher. It will be required of the parent or guardian to stay with their child all the way through the process as the music teacher will only help direct your steps.

• If accepted, the student & their parent(s) will need to commit to the SCEHC requirements where the parent must pay the expenses to attend SCEHC to chaperone their child as well as provide their own transportation, housing, and meals. So for example, parents/guardians will have to drive them to Columbia, SC and possibly pay for a hotel stay as well as bring your child to rehearsal and stay with them there all day. Parents that participate in this normally bring a good book or some work to do quietly because you cannot make any noise in the rehearsal space. The music teacher only helps guide parents through the process while the parents are with their child the whole time.

• The music teacher is required to attend other meetings and will check in with parents and students here and there.
